17-12-2004 Birchfield will once again be exhibiting at the BETT education technology show in 2005 (12th to 15th January 2005, Olympia, London) where it will unveil the Birchfield Software Cinema on Stand E105. In addition to demonstrating a selection of CD-ROMs from across the primary and secondary curriculum, Birchfield will be hosting a series of seminars on the role of ICT and multimedia in the classroom throughout the event. The speaker - Keith Phipps, Teacher of the Year for Creative Use of ICT - will be discussing the latest issues in multi-sensory teaching and learning, including:
Complimentary popcorn will be available for all delegates during the show. In addition to the seminar programme, Birchfield will be running a daily prize draw where delegates will have a chance to win £2000 worth of Birchfield's award-winning software. BETT has become the largest education and ICT event in Europe where
education professionals can find out about the latest software and
hardware resources and catch up on the Government's policies for ICT.
In 2005, over 550 leading educational ICT suppliers will be showcasing
their products covering all curriculum areas and all levels of education. 30-11-2004 Birchfield Interactive plc is proud to announce that it was ranked 7th in the 2004 Deloitte Technology Fast 50, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the South West and Wales region. Rankings are based on average percentage revenue growth over five years, from 1999 to 2004. Birchfield grew 809.7 per cent during this period. Birchfield's CEO, Chris Griffiths, attributes Birchfield's growth to its unique product development model and close links with schools that are at the forefront of incorporating technology into their teaching practice. He said "these factors have enabled us to rapidly move towards developing a complete product portfolio which is directly in line with the needs of our target customer." In addition, Birchfield's marketing activities have grown in coverage and sophistication over the years to reflect its stronger position in the educational software market. "Because the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 measures sustained revenue growth over five years, being one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK is an impressive achievement," said William Touche, national managing partner of Deloitte's Fast 50 Awards. "Birchfield Interactive deserves a lot of credit for its remarkable growth." The Fast 50 list is compiled from Deloitte's nominations submitted to the Fast 50, and public company database research. Deloitte researchers examined financial statements to validate operating revenues.
18-11-2004 It was announced on 27th October 2004 that Birchfield Interactive plc was placed 23rd in the Wales Fast Growth 50 ranking for 2004. This represents a significant increase from last year's position of 46 and illustrates the continuation of Birchfield's phenomenal growth success. The programme, entering its sixth year, showcases companies from all sectors in Wales that have achieved high turnover growth over a period. The 2004 rankings were based on percentage growth of revenues from 2001 and 2003. During this time, Birchfield's percentage growth rate was 165 percent. Chris Griffiths, Chief Executive, commented: "This is a fantastic achievement for us. We hope that we can continue to maintain such a successful growth rate in the coming year." Established in 1998, the primary objective of the Fast Growth 50 project has been to promote the development of growth businesses in Wales through highlighting the fifity fastest growing Welsh ventures.
26-10-2004 Birchfield Interactive plc is delighted to announce that it has been short listed for one of the most sought after awards in the education industry: a BETT Award 2005 in the Secondary Software, Content and Tools category. Two of Birchfield's innovative CD-ROMs fought off tough competition from a variety of educational software suppliers from across the country to be short listed for this esteemed award. The BETT Awards have become renowned among teaching communities across the world for setting the standards in Information Communication Technology (ICT) use for effective educational practice. The Birchfield titles short listed are: French: Myself, Family and Friends 1; The Earth and Beyond. 06-10-2004 Birchfield Interactive plc was for the first time featured in the Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 awards, on 3rd October 2004. The awards programme, which ranks Britain's fastest growing unquoted technology companies, has listed Birchfield as the 84th fastest growing technology company in Britain. This is one of many awards recognising Birchfield's growth and continual success within the technology sector. As one of the UK's leading educational software developers, Birchfield has featured in the Deloitte & Touche UK Fast 50 rankings several times and has previously been named the fastest growing technology company in Wales. Tech Track 100 award rankings are based on sales growth between 2001 to 2003. Birchfield's sales grew 62.78 percent per annum during this period placing it amongst the most successful companies in the UK and third fastest growing in Wales. 07-09-2004 Birchfield is proud to announce its new software upgrade, available from 1st October 2004. Catering for pupils aged 11 to 18, the Professional Edition Version 3 upgrade is designed to provide teachers with total flexibility on how they integrate software into the classroom. Fully aligned to the curriculum, these highly animated, activity based titles can be used by individuals, groups or the whole class when combined with an Interactive Whiteboard. A library of modifiable digital resources is available for teachers to create presentations, websites and worksheets to suit their own lesson plans. The Version 3 upgrade encompasses a new assessment feature which will track and record pupils' progress through all sections and activities. 20-07-2004 As part of our continued expansion into new and exciting markets, Birchfield will be exhibiting this month at the prestigious Camp Apple 2004 event in the US. As one of the leading educational ICT events to be staged this year, Camp Apple will see the launch of the brand new range of US Professional Edition biology titles. Attended by 230 Apple Distinguished Educators, the event is by invite only and creates a unique environment within which America's leading educators can discuss the key issues in teaching with their peers. Birchfield are one of only forty companies to be invited to the event by Apple, illustrating the growing presence and reputation of the company within the international marketplace. The new biology titles have been developed specifically for US schools and comply fully with the National Science Educational Standards for grades 8-11. Utilising a combination of comprehensive content, stunning visuals and rich sounds, the new titles are fully interactive and will engage and inspire students in the classroom. 23-06-2004 On 7th June 2004, Chris Griffiths, CEO of Birchfield, participated as a panellist in the Cardiff event of the Sunday Times UK Business Week. A host of key people from small and medium businesses in the local community were invited to this event to share the secrets of their success and to obtain ideas and inspiration. The series of events which made up UK Business Week were held in various locations across the UK from 7th to 11th June. These events aimed to deliver advice and solutions for owners, Partners and Directors of fast growth businesses. Each event presented the audience with a number of panel-driven sessions and leading service providers delivered ideas and solutions to address the challenges of maintaining and developing a fast growth business. 23-02-2004 Birchfield Interactive has established an Innovation in ICT network of schools. These schools will be working with Birchfield to promote the use and development of ICT in education. Spread throughout the UK, the network aims to lead the way for ICT based teaching and learning with the aid of Birchfield software. All Innovation in ICT schools will be involved in future product development to ensure that new software titles are approached entirely from a teacher and student perspective. These schools will also play an active role in their local communities to encourage good practice for using ICT. It is envisaged that forging tight links with schools can help lead Birchfield closer to its aim of becoming a complete software solutions provider, delivering high quality software across the curriculum. 19-01-2004 Birchfield Interactive has again featured in Deloitte & Touche's European Technology Fast 500 Awards. The awards programme, which is an annual industry ranking of the fastest growing technology companies in Europe, has listed Birchfield as the 42nd fastest growing technology company in Europe for 2003. This is Birchfield's second Fast 500 award, recognising the company's significant achievements and continual success within the technology sector. Award rankings are based on five-year percentage revenue growth from 1998 to 2002. Birchfield grew 2152 percent over this period placing it amongst the most successful companies in the European technology community. Chris Griffiths, Chief Executive, commented "We are delighted to have reached such a prominent position in the European rankings and see it as a true testament to what we have accomplished in the educational software market." This is the third Deloitte European Technology Fast 500, and the programme is now well established as a benchmark for the recognition of high growth technology companies.
