Birchfield Interactive Ltd was established in 1997 and has developed an extensive portfolio of primary and secondary curriculum interactive resources and applications.

Originally selling curriculum resources on CD and DVD for interactive whiteboards, classrooms and school networks, in 2007 Birchfield became one of the first UK companies to offer truly SCORM-conformant curriculum content for VLEs, developing Content for secondary schools for 15 subjects collectively amounting to over 15,000 multimedia resources. This is complemented by Content Editor, allowing teachers and pupils alike to modify the resources and create their own. In 2009 Birchfield launched VLE Games & Question Editor, preloaded with over 34,000 editable questions for 19 secondary school subjects.

Birchfield has also has a primary curriculum offering with a primary SCORM-conformant range, focusing upon Literacy, Numeracy and Science.

Board of Directors

William Harris - Chairman

William is a Chartered Accountant and is a non-executive director of several companies across a broad spectrum of business sectors, including intellectual property ownership and software for the healthcare industry.

He was Chief Executive of Gullane Entertainment plc, until 2002. William transformed Gullane from a one product company (Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends) into a broadly based family entertainment studio, through organic growth and a series of acquisitions of rights and properties. During this period the company's share price increased from £1.30 to an exit price of £4.30.

Jonathan Case - Chief Executive Officer

Jonathan Case was a joint founder of the company in 1997. Jonathan was Chief Operating Officer from 1997-2005 when he became Chief Executive Officer. Jonathan has driven the company through the transitional period in both development and marketing from conventional educational software through to the implementation of a VLE strategy; which has placed Birchfield as the UK's premier supplier of VLE Content and Games.

Richard Coles - Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Richard Coles was a joint founder of the company in 1997 and as Chief Technology Officer is responsible for ongoing technical development of the Birchfield portfolio. Richard continues to strive to keep Birchfield software as a clear market leader and has developed key relationships with schools and Local Authorities throughout the UK.

Arwel Morgan - Finance Director

Chartered Accountant (FCA). Member of the Finance, Management, and IT Faculties. Founding partner of Hafren Ventures. Previously Finance Director and Managing Director of Optim Support Group Ltd, a £15m turnover company with six subsidiaries. Company secretary and Divisional Finance Director of Culver Holdings (96-98). Between 1983 and 1996 he was a founding shareholder of County Leasing & Finance Limited, initially Finance Director and becoming Managing Director in 1989. Previous to this he was Financial Controller of Charterhouse Japhet Credit Limited, and was with KPMG from 1973 to 1977.

Stephen Jones - Non Executive Director

Stephen has over 20 years experience in both stockbroking and investment banking. He joined NM Rothschild & Sons Limited as a corporate financier in 1988 and was appointed managing director Rothschild Wales in 1994, a position he held for ten years.

Stephen has made a number of investments in private and unquoted start-up companies in Cardiff, and was a founder shareholder and director of eLINIA Limited, the Cardiff based data-centre hosting specialists.

He was a director of Northern Racing PLC from 1988 to 2007, and over this time saw the group grow from a single racecourse to nine, The Group was sold in 2007 for £90 million.

A founder board member of Crimestoppers (Wales) established in 1988, and served on the Crimestoppers Board until 1996.
